Key concepts
ISOMAT uses several entities / concepts in their flow. Here we'll describe each in detail.
POI
POI is an abbreviation for Point of Interest. It's a location.
Asset
An asset is a vehicle. Could be a truck or something else. They are used to execute trips and deliver items. Some assets are owned by ISOMAT but it's also possible to handle partners' assets.
Delivery
A delivery is the representation of an item that's to be shipped from ISOMAT's warehouses (either Thessaloniki or Aspropyrgos) to the end customer.
Trip
A trip, in the context of ISOMAT, is a series of deliveries using an asset from one POI to one or more destination POIs.
There are many possible flows in trips' execution that are described in the flows section.
Forwarding agent
Forwarding agents basically act as third-party carriers for trips. A forwarding agent may pickup a delivery from an ISOMAT warehouse and deliver it to the end customer or a Service agent.
The existence of forwarding agents acted as the deciding factor to create POFUFO.
Service agent
Service agents basically act as third-party carriers for sub-trips. Unlike Forwarding agents, this type of agents deliver items from their own POIs to the end customer. They do not handle shipments directly from an ISOMAT's warehouse.
In practice, they are transportation agencies.
